Oh Brigitte and Nicole....youuu. Elide, when he was first in the ambulance, I think he was almost afraid to admit he was hurt. A "hemingway hero" thing to do. He appears "stoic", which means no matter how much trouble life gives a person, he must never let suffering show. I think he pushes past the pain to hide how hurt he really is. What else don't you understand?
Okay, well if you look at what a hemingway hero is, you’ll notice • They are cut off from the traditional values of home and family because of general loss of faith in conventional morality. • Lacks the ability and desire to do his/her job well • Believes that no matter how much trouble life gives a person, he must never let suffering show, except for those fears which surface at night (STOIC) • Believes that the world is generally a cruel place • Believes that men and women can find moments of meaning and happiness, despite the cruelty of the world. Now perhaps you can compare these bullets to Catherine, does she lack the ability to do her job well? Or maybe she believes that men and women can find moments of meaning and happiness, through her love with Henry? That is a trait of a hemingway hero.
Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone knew the theme of the book? and Did Frederick really carry people on his back before the bomb hit?
He said he didnt, but other people said otherwise, and he was supposed to be getting a medal for it for being heroic. I thought he was just trying to not make himself sound like a hero, but I wasn't sure if he did carry those people away or not.
I wonder if Catherine and Fredericks love will ever be real. Sometimes it seems like it could turn into true love but toher times it seems as if it wont change. What do other people think?
I don't know Casey, I mean they make each other happy, so why not "be in love"? Maybe they're just so lonely, that when they finally get the chance to call someone "darling", or kiss another and release the endorphines they so badly want to, they take that chance. Who knows if they're really in love, in my opinion, the only three people who will ever know, are the characters and the man who created them, Frederic, Catherine, and Hemingway.
yeah i have the same question, some people say that its real love while others say it isnt i think that now the two realize that Catherine is pregnant alot changes and they realize that they care alot more for each other then they thought in the first place, or can they really still not even love each other even after Catherine gets pregnant?

Why did Catherine go to Milan? Was it because she knew Fredrick was there?

ReplyDeleteI still dont understand why Frederic gave up his seat to the Military guy that had the gunmen.
ReplyDeleteBrianna he probably did that because he wanted to keep the peace. Plus the guy had a title so everyone would be on his side if a fight broke out.
