One of Catherines Hemingway hero qualities is how she finds out that she is preganant and hides it fron Fredrick for as long as possible. For three months Catherine deals with the pregnancy on her own, once she tells Fredrick she explains how she didn't want to worry him and she has is under control. Catherine was Strong,and kept her problems to herself.

Catherine displays the same kind of characteristics the frederick does and also shows examples in her personality of being a "Hemingway hero" becouse she does not reveal alot of herself personally, she keeps it to herself and instead you can infer her true throughts and feelings through her actions, for example when Catherine gave frederick the St. Peter medal that belonged to her privious fiance you know that she really does worry about him and care for him but does not express this outload.

She just didn't want to see his reaction, she lost all her faith. I think she thought he would have left her if he found out she was pregnant, so she kept it a secret to keep him.
