War affects their emotions. They hide what is really bothering them and just atempt to take their minds off of it. The soldiers sleep wwith women to keep their minds of the war. They are afraid of war and don't want to be there. The women who are nursing try their best to help. They can't be in the battle field but they help the wounded.
They are affected greatly, with the war having an emotional impact on them. They are constantly being bombed and the nation is constantly being injured. The soldiers are not the only ones who are affected, the nurses and the regular public of the nation are being affected as well. To have a war going on around your area is painful. The people just want the war to be over, it is emotionally destroying them. Soldiers must see companions die, and doctors and nurses may watch patients pass. Rinaldi tries to cope through alcohol, as you’ll notice, every time his character is presented, he is quite drunk. Alcohol is one of the escapes used prevalently in this novel. The soldiers drink to escape the pain and brutal thoughts of the war. Some other escapes for the people in the war are their comical jokes. In the mess hall, the soldiers will poke fun at the priest for his belief in god, for their thoughts are that if God truly existed, the war would not. They joke with one another, having the laughter become the escape. For the men soldiers, an escape or way to cope is the whore houses. And the most prevalent escape for Lieutenant Frendrick Henry is love with Catherine. Love is another escape, or way to cope. With love, you can finally feel affection, and a sense of happiness, rather than the death and black cold of the war.
The war affects the main characters because the war is so deadly and hard that its almost impossible to get forget about. Also the war keeps you from doing the fun things you want to enjoy in your life. Loving someone thats in the war is almost impossible beacuase there life is on the line 24/7 and its hard to believe that they are gonna be ok but you can not do anything about it
War effects the main characters by making them act and think in different ways. The way they act isn’t normal behavior because their minds are manipulated by the horrific ways of war. Because the war is so devastating, the men try to escape the war, by going to whorehouses and drinking at bars almost every night. Catherine and Henry also are effected. They both try to get their mind of the war by going into this fantasy of love that they don’t have. Catherine and Henry both just met each other, and have decided that they should be in love. Catherine already lost the love of her life, but having love in her life is just what she needs in order to get her mind of the war even if it requires her to pretend to love Henry. This just shows people will do crazy things to escape war in their minds.
War affects the main characters. In the book the characters cope with war by either drinking or going to whore houses. They well do anything just to get away from the war. A good example of this would be Frederick, and Catherine's relationship together. They are having a relationship but it isnt real.they tell eachother they love eachpther but both of them know it is just a game. this game is just an ascape for them. other soldiers will go every night to the whore houses and drink, for their escape.
the war affects the main characters in the main way of their mentality, as far as their physical condition goes that is affected too but not nearly as much. the reason i say this is because the fear accompanied with the war drives som soldiers out of their minds, and with the main characters. they talk and question the war and why they are fighting. they are afraid to get killed or injured but they put this aside so they arent torn apart by it. the things that they put into their hole of doubt ranges from alcohol to women. some people talk about how they want to go home or visit places but what they are trying to do is get out of the war and leave this problem behind
The war affects the main characters of the story by making them continually search for a way to get there mind out of the war. They do this because the war is bloody, gory and miserable. The main characters look into prostitution to help relive there stress or try to find fake love that is only to fill the void of not having someone to really love. They also drink to bring them happiness, like when Fredrick is the hospital and naddi comes and offers him alcohol.
The war affects the main characters in different ways. In one of the ways the war causes them stress so they cope with the stress by going to the bawdy houses, getting drunk, and teasing others. For example, the guys will tease the priest about not going to the bawdy houses or being drunk. Even though they tease the priest they do like him. Another way they cope is escaping the war. When the priest reccomends Fredrick to go to Abruzzi Fredrick does not because if he visits the big cities he'll be like another person.
The War is Destroying the towns and people around them. Not only soliders are affected but also, ambulance drivers, Nurses, and the citizens that may live near the front. Seeing the death rise, hearing bombs, hearing shooting right above their heads, and seeing town destroyed takes a big toll on the characters. Fedric Henry is so use to the war that he find it comforting to wake up in the morning with firing and is use to caring his gun. Most of the men and even Women cope with it by starting "relationships", that they play games in to help them escape the war. The Men in the war keep themselves busy and keep their mind off the destruction around them by Joking, Drinking, and Meaningless relationships. One of the most popular places were the men can escape too is a whore House this is one of the places that they can do everything that helps them cope with the brutal war.
The war affects main characters in a severe way. With the war being bloody and gory and everyone dying left and right, people they love and people who they are just friends with its hard for the main characters to have a positive mind. The way they cop with the war is they drink. For example Rinadli drinks almost everyday to get his mind off the war, when he went in to see Fredrick who had gotten in a car accident when he went in the hospital room he had a bottle in his hand. Fredrick tries to get over the war by loving Catherine and trying to be there for her. Most of the other men would make jokes and make fun of the priest for believing in god because if god was real he would not have the war. Also they would go have sex with prostitutes to get there mind off war…….
The war has affected the main characters in this book in many ways, mostly negative. The effects many people more emotionally because they don’t know how to cope with the war and they have never been through everything that is happening. Many people tend to go "crazy" or do things they wouldn't normally do. The war has these effects on people because they don’t know how to cope with the war. The main ways to cope with the war were prostitutes, creating a "fake love" which is what Fredrick and Catherine do, drinking and drug use, and also making fun of other people the way many of the Lieutenants in Fredrick’s group do. They make fun off the priest and anyone they can because it allows them to laugh and have a good time, getting their minds off the war.
they do what ever they can do to get there mind out of the war.the war has such a huge affect on everyone.people such as soldiers and medics to nurses and dr.'s.family members lifes are ruined.
The war effects the main characters in a negagtive way. They end up using eachother for "love" or using complete strangers such as the girls in "body houses" to escape the war for a little bit of time. The characters pretty much loose themselves during the war because there is too much pressure to deal with from the war. For the characters to try and cope with normal life problems and issues are not fesible anymore and the characters just don't care. The characters turn to negative influences as well such as alcohal and sex.
The war affects every single charector in this book. Many of them dont know how to properly deal with the situations that occur. They all need to find a way to escape the war emotionally. Many try escaping reality by drinking alcohol and some go to bawdy houses. Fredrick creates an intimate relationship with Cathriene. They are both so emotional that they need some way to escape from reality. They "fall in love".
the war affected the main characters in many ways. they tried to cope with it by going to whore houses and and drinking a lot of alcohol. many people went crazy such as henry when he tried to help his fellow army men as hid leg was very injured. the wart just makes you literally crazy because its so gruesome. it changes your state of mind and you just dont know reality anymore. its crazy and many people are affected greatly by it. fredrick tried to get away from the war by getting into the relationship with catherine. this is there way of coping and getting away from the war
War effect the main characters physicaly and emotionaly. When the main characters are presented with war they attempt to find different ways to forget about it. Some use alchol other go to whorehouse for sex and other try to have a relationship with real "love" in it. The main characters attempt to cope with these problems of war with these releases of stress.
The war not only affects the main characters in the book, it also affects the ambulance drivers, the orderly's, families, and the citizens of the country. Early in the book, Frederick gets in an accident, and he gets wounded. When he is in the hospital, Rinaldi and the Priest come see him and they both give him a bottle of alcohol. That was one of the main ways of dealing with the war. People would drink theirself to oblivion and try and have a good time to forget about the war. Another way guys would deal with the war was by going to the bawdy houses, and fooling around with the girls there. People start meaningless relationships. They also try and joke about things, like all the guys making fun of the priest. Once in a while when the war stops for the winter months, people go visit their families. So everyone has learned to cope with the war in many ways, some not as respectable as others, but just as easy.
the war affects the main charectors as any war would... their struggling and they act out and deal with their emotions in such ways like seeing the whores and getting intoxicated. They try to mask their fear, depression and anxiety by "having fun" and doing anything to escape from the pain in their minds. For example, Catherine Barkley and Lt. henry escape their hardships by basically faking a realationship and force theirselves to be in love.
War affects the main caracters in ways unimaginable to most people. To cope with these -problems the men in the war turn to drinking, drugs, going to whorehouses and getting laid all the time. Another way people coped with the war was to verbally and physically abuse people in order to feel better about themselves as well.
the war effects the main characters in many ways, it effects them phycialcally, pshciaology, and mentally. As the war continues the people who are involved in the war try to get there minds off the war by drinking and haveing fake love with the woman
War affects everyone differently, lesser men turn to whore houses or alchol, while men who are few and far between (like the priest)turn to faith. Frederick is better than most of the other men he fights with, he chooses a girl to go steady with and help him forget the war.
The war affects the men constantly, mentally and physically. They wittness horrible things and cant cope without drinking, going to the brothel, and laughing(making fun of the priest). They are constantly thinking about the war and only feel better when they are drinking and etc.
The soldiers cope with the war by either going to the bawdy houses or drink an extreme amount of alcohol. A specific example is catherine and Frederick, they pretend they have a real realtionship by saying I love u. They both know it is just a game. Just to escape the horrors of war. Also the war affected the main characters emotionally and physicaly. The soldiers were seeing the friends and sometimes there own family being destroyed by the bombing and such!!
The way the main characters coped with the war was through many different things. They either go to the whore houses. Drick alcohol. They like to make fun of people to make time pass. Also the soliders think and go into fantsy, so that they dont have to think about the horrible things of war. Also they try to make life better by talking and making things more alive.
War has the greatest effect on the main characters more than anything else in their lives, For Henry he has lost two best friends to the war and realizes his very morals are being effcted through all the death and destruction. For Ms. Barkley the war took her first love and had forever changed her life. To the preist the war has changed everyone around him and what he holds as most important in his life, god is being threatened. What most of the characters do to deal with the war are negative in that they try and completley forget about it through drinking and constantly getting drunk or going to the whorehouses. What Henry and Ms. Barkley do to get away from the war is play love games, pretending they are in a relationship helps them both cope with the horrors of the war even though they realize what they are doing and how crazy it really is. Basically the war changes people to do negative things to help them cope and forget about whats really going on.
The war effects each of the characters in their own personal way. Countinually the characters are looking for ways to keep their minds off of the horrifying war. By distracting themseleves they are able to escape the devestation of the war. To keep themselves occupied during these rough times the men visit prostitutes at whorehouses. They also result to going to bars and drinking to the point where they "sooth the pain away". Another way they get their minds off the war is by laughing. When they make fun of someone they are able to forget about the war. For example when they constantly make fun of the priest. Finally they result to a so called fanasty love. For example Henry and Catherine fall into this fanasty love to distract themseleves and forget about the horrors of war. But in reality it is all just a game and a way to forget about the evils of fighting.
The emotions of the main chracters are toying with their actions. They are nervous about the war and they don't know what's going to happen. By dealing with this war, they visit whorehouses and consume lots of alcohol to have a good time on their break in the wintertime. They need this "fun" to get their minds off of the war before they have to go back to it.
The war affects the soldiers in the way that some of them are driven insane. They cannot handle the stress, the sights, and the strange and never before experienced or scene degree of war that is taking place. They were driven to the point where some of them started to consider their surroundings as normal, good, or beautiful as Catherine did. War was so horrible that they had to find ways to cope with it. The things that they used to cope with the war were girls, alcohol, and fake relationships. They had to do what ever they could to cope and remain sane.
The war affects the main characters by making them crazy and desperate for anything to distract them. The war affect the main characters by making them hide there emotions and also by having them use other things as a distraction. The characters have to drink in order to forget about the war. Many people would go to whorehouses so that they can have sex with random women. They used these two things to help get their mind off of what is really going on. In reality this is not a smart thing to do because the war will never be able to get off their minds. Another way they cope with the war is laughing and making jokes. If people joke about the war and everything going on it makes it less serious and sad.
War affects their emotions. They hide what is really bothering them and just atempt to take their minds off of it. The soldiers sleep wwith women to keep their minds of the war. They are afraid of war and don't want to be there. The women who are nursing try their best to help. They can't be in the battle field but they help the wounded.

ReplyDeleteThe war has much effect on the main characters of this book. Each of the characters takes the war differently. Fredrick Henry, one of the main characters takes the war pretty hard. He hates the war and just wants it to be over. Henry is a heavy drinker probably because of the war. Drinking gets his mind off the war. Many other men that are in the war also turn to drinking to get their mind off the war. Also the men that are being troubled by the war turn to bawdy houses to try to get away from the war. All these men start doing bad or inappropriate things to forget about the war. Another main character that is being affected by the war is Catherine Barkley. Her fiancé got killed in the war, which greatly affected her. She is scared to fall in love again because she has not fully forgotten about her late fiancé. We know that she is still struggling with her lose because she carried around a walking stick that belonged to him. Many people take war differently, but everyone in this book is taking it very hard.

ReplyDeleteThe war affect the main characters by making them hide there emotions and also by having them use other things as a distraction.
